Quick take
When it comes to decision-making, there are various types of decisions we encounter in our professional lives:
- Let’s postpone for next quarter,
- We need to conduct an A/B test.
- We should analyze the situation further,
- Let's gather more feedback before deciding,
- Let’s ask the customers,
- This is a strategic decision,
- We should not do it.
Today, I want to talk about a decision-making approach that I find myself using quite often:
JFDI.
Just fucking do it.
I first heard about this decision type from a former colleague named Jason, and it really resonated with me.
JFDI pattern:
- Dead simple,
- Valuable,
- Important and urgent (the most obvious JFDI)
- Important but not so urgent,
- Unnecessary procrastination for various reasons.
I'm sure you've come across JFDI initiatives in your own work as well.
Ask yourself right now: Do I have any JFDI initiatives?
Just fucking do them.
